Umtha People Carriers is a black owned close corporation established in January 2008. We are committed to providing a service rooted in African pride. Ubuntu means humanity, a quality that embodies our service.
Our chosen focus areas involve three major pillars, Transportation, People/Community Development and Enterprise Development in logistics. Our strategic positioning is based on the notion that rural development provides jobs during infrastructure development and that local skills should be accrued in this space, if we are to create meaningful job opportunities.
Since inception, we have grown our transport side so as to create a foundation that will subsidize the other business units. This allowed us to spend much time in the terrain, which has resulted in honing our understanding of the rural environment.
The enterprise is founded by Simphiwe Mqolomba, who works full time in the company. He has roped in key skills in the social development and logistics realms, while he mostly handles the transport side.
Having grown up in rural Easter Cape, Simphiwe was exposed to dire poverty in his community, which urged him to register this entity and seek and grow its various units as a response to the needs of community namely, access to jobs, programming for social development, and enterprise creation.
